We let the little hypocrisy live, and it grew.

We knew it was wrong, but it was our own and it was so small.

So we let it lay, and chose not to see it for the evil it is.  For the the harm it had done and could do.

We could see it in our midst and knew others could too.  We didn’t condemn it through, and in not calling it out we allowed it to grow.

Something that could have been squashed with the light of the Son was allowed to be shaded and hid.  Allowed to become something so much more and so dangerous.  All because we didn’t want to confront it.

Everyone does it we told ourselves, or we feared it would be used against us and we gave ourselves a pass.

Now the “yeast of the Pharisees” has grown to great proportions.  Big enough to swallow us whole.

We aren’t even looking for mercy yet because many of us see what is wrought and view it as some kind of victory.

When we do seek that mercy, it will come. But not before a price is paid.  What cost is this pride?

So let’s not travel so far down this road.  Let’s turn back to the path we should have been on in the first place.  While we still can.

The name of our foe is not each other, but hypocrisy.

My hypocrisy.
